How do emotions like curiosity and interest emerge and guide our inquiry? In this paper, we present a novel computational framework that models epistemic emotions using Bayesian information gain, informed by the Free Energy Principle. This model unifies affective and cognitive processes into a quantitative framework, offering new perspectives on how we stay curious, engaged, and learn optimally.
